Break into groups and solve the problem:
A pineapple is balanced precariously on a perch. How will you collectively remove the pineapple from sight without any member of your group physically touching the fruit ?
Through team-work students learn to work together on very short notice to solve what seems at first an inexplicable problem set up for them in the classroom. The most eloquent solution is praised. We discuss issues of motivation, collaboration, story-telling, and aesthetics from the point of view of artistic problem solving.
- What is the nature of the problem and the task it calls for? How to break it down.
- What are the resources you have as a group and how to mobilize them?
- Will you break into committees or assign different aspects of the problem to members?
- How will you make decisions: Consensus? Simple Majority? A 2/3 Majority?
